Sugar Belly: The unique find that broke our hearts (and wallets). Meet the mochi donuts going for $6 each!

It looked like love at first bite. Pastel-coloured boxes, cheery fonts, a smiling mascot... Sugar Belly had all the makings of a sweet beginning.
The box itself was an aesthetic flex. Part bento box, part ad art piece. Carrying it through the mall was equal parts embarrassing and amusing; people actually stared. If anything, it’s a genius idea for a walking ad.

We got swept up in the cuteness (who wouldn’t?), picking out three of their mochi-style donuts: Sakura, Kit Kat, and Fruity Pebbles. At $6 a pop, it felt like a treat-your-team moment. It was painful, but I thought, "it's too pretty to pass up."

But then came the heartbreak. Despite its looks, the taste fell flat... or rather, dense. It tasted like churro-meets-mochi in the most confused way possible: chewy, heavy, and a little oily.
We wondered if we were supposed to reheat them, but even then… would that save it?
At more than 50 percent higher than Mister Donut or Dunkin’, Sugar Belly’s charm couldn’t justify the chew. Pretty packaging, pity payoff.

That said, there is a saving grace: their Matcha on Tap, one of their popular items, is smooth, creamy, and genuinely refreshing. It almost makes you forgive the donut mishap... almost. 💔
