I don't usually get lost, but trying to find this café, which was apparently just six minutes from our new office, was a challenge (so thank you, Google Maps...). After ten surprisingly long minutes of wandering, I finally stumbled upon POUT Rooftop Cafe, tucked discreetly inside the CMO Building!

If the name rings a bell, we’re not surprised. You might also be wondering how it landed on our Unique Finds list, even. If I'm being truthful, its biggest pull was what we'd heard about the views and also... the sheer proximity to our new office on 77 High Street! (Curiosity, curiosity, curiosity).

But once we got there, the promise of a killer rooftop view (and equally photogenic interiors) sealed the deal. Well, what can we say? These cafes are upping each other left, right and centre, and we're all for it!

The moment I arrived, I was floored by the presence of a lively crowd, which was pretty wild for a Tuesday afternoon. The queue was also no joke, and I was quietly praying that my social battery would hold out. The chatter drowned out my heart palpitations.

First impressions? The space blends industrial and modern aesthetics with a playful touch of retro charm. There are quirky props, warm hues, and a stunning wall lined with wine bottles and coffee beans setting the scene, complemented by a rack of freshly baked treats on the counter. What really caught my eye, though, was a striking canvas art piece near the entrance. I’ve always had a soft spot for expressive paintings, and this one, with its bold strokes (and a cute little dog-bunny), instantly won me over.

Looking around the cafe, aside from the decorations, the seating arrangements caught my attention. From the concrete terrace at the corner to the aisle and sitting in front of the counter where you will get to watch how the baristas make each and every order. I was hoping to get the counter seat but I ended up at the sharing table instead O.O. For an introvert, being flanked by people too-close all around me was a lil unnerving, but nothing I can't handle.

This café doesn’t just stand out for its experimental pastry and drink flavours... it’s all in the name! Its iconic rooftop seating offers a breathtaking view of the Singapore skyline. From up here, you can even spot Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the Fullerton Hotel in the distance. Gorgeous, right?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t beat the early crowd, and by the time I got to ordering, their iced speciality drinks — Honeycomb Latte, Salted Caramel Mocha, and Peanut Butter Mocha — were already sold out, along with their Brûlée Basque Cheesecake. So, I went for the Tiramisu ($9) and Coconut Matcha Cloud ($7.90) instead. They looked pretty unassuming at first, but I was curious to see how they’d set themselves apart from the usual café picks.

Starting with the Tiramisu ($9) because your girl loves tiramisu (heehee)! It’s been a while since I’ve had one, and honestly, this hits the spot.

Unlike most tiramisus I’ve tried, this one felt just right. The funny part? I accidentally choked on the cocoa powder before even getting to the cream (rookie mistake). The coffee flavour was bold (in the best way), and it paired perfectly with the light sweetness of the cream. What I really appreciated was that it didn’t melt too quickly, and the sponge wasn’t overly soggy. It was just the right texture to make every bite satisfying.

My drink arrived a little later, but that’s alright, we love a barista who takes their craft seriously! I finally got my Coconut Matcha Cloud ($7.90), and as someone who rarely drinks anything coconut-related (aside from fresh coconut water), I was curious how this would turn out. You’ll definitely want to give it a good stir — a few rounds, at least, to fully blend the earthy matcha with the subtle sweetness of the coconut. What surprised me most was how real the coconut flavour tasted. It didn’t feel artificial at all; it reminded me of the fresh coconuts my dad used to bring home from the market.

Overall, I really enjoyed the friendly service and the cosy atmosphere at POUT. I only wish I could’ve stayed a little longer to soak in the ambience and enjoy the rooftop view — but since they close at 5PM (last orders at 4PM), time wasn’t quite on my side.

If you want to avoid the tea-time crowd, I’d recommend coming earlier; a helpful tip from one of the staff! Shoutout to him for being so warm and welcoming! That way, you’ll have a better chance at snagging their iced speciality drinks and the Brulee Basque Cheesecake.

Oh, and for all the CBD folks like me, it’s honestly the perfect spot to rest your eyes from the laptop and unwind a little during the workday. As someone who usually avoids crowds, I can see myself coming back again... maybe on a breezy, sunny morning when the rooftop’s a little quieter.

We’ll see! 📍 POUT Rooftop Cafe Address: 50 South Bridge Rd, Unit 06-00, Singapore 058682 Operating Hours: 8AM to 5PM (closed on weekends)
